Website Photography Credits!
The photographs you see adorning the HHT website were all taken and made available to us by numerous participants who have enjoyed HHT trips over the years. We use real photographs from real participants to assure you that the sights and situations you enjoy on our site are those you will actually encounter on your own trek. No actors. No gimmicks!
We would like to acknowledge and thank our good friends for allowing us the privilege of including their imagery on our website:
Mark Nyman, Dr. Joel Adelson, Dana Isherwood, Lisa Nelbach, Sarah Brooks, Amber Tamang, Kate Twain, JoAnneh Nagler, Alan Steinbrugge, Effie Fletcher, Gary Loth, Helen Moss, Joe Fischer, Dr. Marc Irwin, Nancy Huntsman, Betty Stanfield and Gina Marsala.

The lucky ones among us are blessed with a curiosity, desire and means to explore a vast and amazing world. We travel to extraordinary, far-flung places to absorb nature's majesty and the eloquence of cultures struggling to avoid commercialization or oblivion. Recent evidence has been a stark reminder for us all — that "every action has a reaction" and that one can no longer take for granted, the resources we once so-freely exhausted. Speaking of exhaust: In addition to personal awareness and conservation, you can help offset the real effects of your lengthy air travel by considering and purchasing "carbon credits" from a reputable, Earth-conscious agency.
At HHT we like Terrapass (try their 'calculator'). Zerofootprint is also a good website, reviewing different organizations and options. We hope that you consider this insightful notion as a personal opportunity and choice you have at your disposal &mdash to help offset the effects of your air travel. |
For some more ideas on minimizing the effects of travel on the Earth's wildlife, cultures and resources, we suggest visiting Ethical Traveler. Ethical Traveler is a grass–roots alliance uniting adventurers, tourists, travel agencies, and outfitters — everyone who loves to travel, and sees travel as a positive force in the world. Take a look at some fresh, new ideas that you can put into practice when you take your next adventure! Use your economic power to help strengthen human rights and do more to help protect the places you want to visit. | |

For an interesting glimpse at our staff and their families, here is an interesting article written and first published by the Bend (Oregon) Bulletin about Ganga Tamang, brother of HHT's trip leader, Amber Tamang. Ganga is currently a student at the University of Oregon and a long way from his home in Lumsa, Nepal. Read about it here. |
